19 Dec mTECH New ResearchKit App by Thomas J Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Analyses Effect of Energy Drinks on Health
A research study investigating the effects of energy drinks on long term health outcomes at Thomas J Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is using a ResearchKit powered mobile app – mTECH. The Principle investigator of the study is Saranpreet Nagra.
The researchers would be focusing on effect of energy drinks on health indicators such as physician/ER visits, medication use, blood pressure, heart rate, activity level, and sleep.
Each individual’s participation in the study will be for 31 days. The first day, you will be asked to complete a survey with 19 questions which is estimated to take about 15 minutes of your time. This would essentially involve details of your overall health, caffeine intake, and energy drink usage. This will be followed by one question a day for the remaining 30 days, about the previous days’ energy drink usage.
The study will also access your health data stored in your Health app on your phone, like blood pressure, heart rate, daily step count, and sleep activity. The researchers hope to compare and associate these health markers with energy drink intake.
You are eligible to participate in the study if,
– You are at least 18 years.
– You are a US resident.
– You have access to an iOS device with iOS8.0 or greater.
